Donini said robbery was the motive for the murder.
Cox, of 631 Little Egypt Road, was beaten severely on the head and face, Donini said.
He said Riggs and Cox knew each other and Riggs had visited the victim before.
On the night of the murder, Cox reportedly invited Riggs into his house. But an altercation soon started just after midnight on Saturday, and Riggs is accused of beating Cox with a Maglite flashlight.
Authorities were alerted to the crime after a neighbor called for help.
In addition to the sheriff's office, the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investi-gation assisted in the case.
