Scioto County Sheriff Marty Donini said a 31-year-old Portsmouth man was arrested in connection with a robbery at the Days Inn on U.S. 23 on Monday.

Daniel Bryant, of 1138 10th Street, was charged with one count of robbery.

Donini said deputies responded to a 911 call at 9:51 p.m. at the motel.

A motel employee said a white male came up to the front desk and asked for change. The man then demanded money and fled the motel. Donini said there were no injuries in the robbery.

Several hours later. at 3:30 a.m., the Ohio Highway Patrol and city police stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation and the driver became nervous.

According to Donini, officers recognized the vehicle as one matching the suspected vehicle in the motel robbery and contacted his office.

Following an investigation, the officers said that a suspect who had possession of the vehicle during the motel robbery was at a residence at 2431 Scioto Trail.

Police then obtained a search warrant so they could search the house. Donini said they found Bryant trying to escape through a second-story window. He was arrested and charged wiht robbery.

Bryant was arraigned in Municipal Court Tuesday for the mtel robbery and is being held at the county jail on a $7,500 bond.

He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on June 20.

City prosecutors say they also plan on charging him with another count in connection with a robbery at Pro Tan at 1731 Grant Street. That incident occurred at 2:56 p.m. Monday. As of Tuesady afternoon, he had not yet been charged with that robbery.
