Detectives from the Scioto County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit arrested two men after purchasing Oxycontin on Hardscrabble Road in West Portsmouth on Thursday.
According to Sheriff Marty Donini, dispatch received an anonymous call that people were offering to sell drugs to passing motorists in front of 431 Hardscrabble Road.
Detectives drove to the site and purchased the drugs. They identified themselves and arrested Aaron Cottrell, 22, of 4528 Swauger Valley Road, Portsmouth, and James W. Monroe, 31, of 267 Stoney Run Road, West Portsmouth.
Cottrell was charged with trafficking in Oxycontin, a felony of the 4th degree. Monroe was charged with trafficking in Oxycontin, possession of Oxycontin, a felony of the 3rd degree, and possession of Lorcet, a felony of the 4th degree.
Both men were transported to the Scioto County Jail. Cottrell is being held on a probation violation and Monroe is being held on a $20,000 bond. Both men will be arraigned in Portsmouth Municipal Court on Friday.
