Free Distribution of Gun Lock
Safety Kits
Scioto County Sherriff Marty V. Donini announces that the Scioto County Sheriff's Office will be participating in a state-wide effort to distribute 50,000 "Project ChildSafe" gun lock safety kits.
Project ChildSafe is a nationwide program developed by the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) to encourage the safe handling and secure storage of fire arms in homes. The program was first implemented in September of 1999 where five pilot cities across the country including Las Vegas Nevada, Oakland California, Orlando Florida, Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, and Augusta Georgia.
The state wide effort is being coordinated by lieutenant governors office in Columbus Ohio, state-wide County Sheriff's Offices and local Wal-Mart stores throughout each community who have agreed to law enforcement.
